Each week, we begin Shabbat with candlelight and sweetness ~ a sanctification of time. And, we end Shabbat with the light, sweetness of Havdalah and its blessings of distinction. This Shabbat is one of increased national attention on the essential nature of reproductive justice in America. As we move to conclude Shabbat with the distinctiveness blessing of Havdalah, we will lift up the distinction between living in a nation where access to abortion and reproductive rights have been upheld through Roe v. Wade, and the very real potential of living in a nation of states where access to health, freedom, dignity, and our own Jewish values around pikuach nefesh (saving a life) are denied by the government. We will also raise up opportunities to be part of resisting such restrictions on freedom and justice. Please join Rabbi Jessica Shimberg for this meaningful event.
